Young student Orli says:
Many Australians know and recognise the Flanders poppy and what it represents. I was asked to design this crochet pattern so that the Sturt Desert Pea could stand alongside the poppy as a similar remembrance symbol for our First Nations people.
I hope that in making this crochet pea, we can all acknowledge the vital contribution that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have made, and continue to make, in our community.
